Mt. Fuji and Hakone Area Sightseeing

I had been a guide for my guests, a sweet couple from U.S.A, on their sightseeing trip to Mt. Fuji and the Hakone area. Since it was the middle of a weeklong holiday in Japan, there was heavy traffic on the highways. I chose the route to Mt. Fuji that had relatively less traffic. My guests were surprised that we were able to arrive there sooner than they had expected.

The highlight of this day was seeing Mt. Fuji. We explored the area around lake Kawaguchi, which boasts one of the best views of the mountain. I took a photo of my guests with the beautiful scenery of Mt. Fuji in the background.

Next, I took my guests to Kubota Itchiku Art Museum, as they requested to go somewhere I would recommend. My guests looked very satisfied after seeing the gorgeous kimonos there. After that, we headed to an open air museum of the old village called ‘Iyashi no Sato Nenba’ to see the beautiful cherry blossoms, since they had told me the cherry blossoms were a sight they would love to see.

Next, we decided to take a lunch break. I took my guests to the restaurant Byakko as they requested some ramen and pot stickers. They enjoyed the local atmosphere. They especially enjoyed the way we ordered our food, by buying the food tickets from a vending machine at the restaurant.

After the lunch, our plan was to get on board a pirate ship from Togendai. When we arrived there, there was a huge crowd of people waiting for the cruise. My guests decided to change the plan, so I suggested Hakone Shrine and Hakone Checkpoint. My guests chose Hakone checkpoint, a historical site from the Edo period. My guests were interested in the history of Japan, so I guided them there while providing explaining about the role of this place back in the Edo period.

After the long day, we left Hakone area. My guests took a rest during the ride back home. I was very glad to show my guests many places including some of my recommendations and that they had a great day.
