Kids Friendly Tour in Tokyo

I had given a Tokyo sightseeing tour to my guests of the day, a beautiful family from Australia. The family’s makeup was a mother and father, along with their six year-old daughter. For the tour, I had chosen a Toyota luxury minivan, the Alphard. It had been conveyed that my guests were interested in visiting temples and shrines, to appreciate the history and culture of Japan.

First of all, I gave my guests a driving tour of the Tokyo Imperial Palace, where the Emperor lives, and also of the National Parliament Building. Since their daughter seemed a bit bored in the car, I suggested taking a walk of the Imperial Palace East Gardens. We got out of the car and had a nice walk there. I took some family photos of my guests by the Kanzakura trees, which are known in Japan as the winter cherry blossoms.

Next, we headed to Zojoji Temple. After some introductions about this temple and its Buddhist traditions, my guests tried drawing a fortune-telling paper strip. The daughter was especially lucky and her fortune predicted excellent luck. When she heard that, she couldn’t stop smiling. Then we stopped by the Pokémon Center at Tokyo Station Character Street for the daughter to have some fun with the toys.

Then I took my guests to Meiji-Jingu Shrine. We walked to the main shrine hall observing the elaborate ice sculptures at Ice Sculpture Exhibition. Luckily we happened to see a traditional wedding ceremony being held there, and my guests could take pictures of the bride and groom wearing their wedding kimonos. I was glad to see my guests enjoying the traditional atmosphere.

We still had some time left at the end of the tour, so I took my guests to Daikanyama district, which is known for its stylish aesthetic. After a long day, we headed to their hotel and I dropped off my guests. I handed the daughter a little gift, a Lego key chain of her favorite Disney princess, Belle. It was a pleasure to see that my guests had so much fun on their family trip in Tokyo.
