Guide at Tokyo Station
My guests for the day were a couple who visited Japan from New York. I had been requested for a simple transfer to Tokyo station from their staying hotel. My guests were traveling to Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa and Kyoto as well as Tokyo over a two-week period. On this day, they were going to Hida-Takayama by bullet train. Right after my guests got in the car, they asked me if I could go to the platform in the station with them, to which I responded, “Of course I will go there with you. I’m not very good at speaking English but will do my best to guide you.” Then the wife kindly said, “Your English is good, we only know “Arigato” and “Konnichiwa” in Japanese!”Since my guests were from New York, I told them that I was a big fan of baseball, and my dream is to watch a game at Yankee Stadium. The husband who was a Yankees fan asked me about Tanaka, a Japanese pitcher who plays for the New York Yankees. I told him that Tanaka was very famous and has lots of fans in Japan. My guests and I had great time talking about baseball.
At Tokyo station, I took my guests to their bullet train departure platform. My guests were very surprised by how many people and different platforms were there. They asked where to store their luggage during in the train ride, so I explained about the luggage storage space inside of the train. When the trains came, I got into the train with my guests. We went to the luggage space, and then I guided my guests to their seats. It was time for me to leave, so I handed my guests two bottles of water for the ride and thanked them for choosing our service.
